2006 Song for England
ENGLAND, MY ENGLAND
'England, My England' is a song taken from Elliott's latest album Dead Poet's Society. The songs are Mike Read's collaboration with some of the most famous writers in English history, including, Shakespeare, Tennyson, Byron, Kipling, Wordsworth, WH Auden, John Betjeman and Rupert Brooke.
Elliott Frisby (vocals and guitar), Steve Innes-Etherington (Musical director / programmer) and Mike Read are currently recording the album as well as having taken time out to undertake live performances in London, which were extraordinarily well-received.
Jeremy Beadle, in the audience for the first of the shows, commented "Elliott has a remarkable voice that makes every note resonate to its true intention" and was quick off the mark in realizing that one of the songs, Mike's collaboration with W E Henley on 'England, My England', was an obvious World Cup song. The response to the song during the shows underlined the fact, with the result that it was recorded the following week and will be released soon.
